The closing of the Longbranch

A lot of people have been messaging me today to tell me they were sorry to hear about the Porter Robinson show being cancelled on account of the closing of the Longbranch. For those of you that don’t know, me and my good friend and tag team partner Jesse Hunter were set to be the openers for Porter. While this would have been an amazing opportunity and a lot of fun I have to ask that you stop treating us as though a distant relative has just died and instead realize what this means for the future of EDM in Raleigh. The Longbranch was the last large indoor venue we had (2000+ capacity with decent sound). It has hosted some of the biggest names in EDM and some of the largest shows this city has seen. I would like to say that this cancellation is to blame solely on the closing of the venue. The hard work that Chase Keough, Joe Bell, and the rest of the folks at Sugar Society put into making these shows happen should not be called into question here. So what does this mean for you, Raleigh? This means that you need to rage hard every opportunity you get. Show the suits that we are a Tier 1 town and a force to be reckoned with. If we show that there is valid reason to invest in our city, then you can be sure the someone will take notice. Let’s make Raleigh the EDM center of the southeast that I know it can be. This is a call to you, ragers. Show up and support this scene that has given each and every one of us a home and a group of friends like no other.

Rage on,

Christopher English
